2012 - 2013 WATER RATE STUDY A complete analysis of the water rate structure will be conducted this fiscal year by an independent consultant. Rates must be adjusted to pay the cost of improvements including debt service and increased monitoring, operation and maintenance costs. The last adjustment occurred in 2003. Any adjustments necessary would take effect July 1, 2013. Many of the concerns from our customer have been heard and noted, we would welcome any additional input from the community. We meet the first Wednesday of the month or contact us at 508-428-6691. The Safe Drinking Water Act enacted in 1974, has affected every public water system. The EPA promulgated Nation Drinking Water Standards which have been modified to address the ever expanding knowledge scientist have gained about our drinking water. Subsequent amendments to the act have lead to an increase in the cost to operate and maintain public water systems and ultimately, and increase in the rates customers pay to meet the expenses.
